Renewed and Rising Practice Day

As spring arrives and the world turns toward new growth, Renewed & Rising invites organizers and supporters into a day of rest, reflection, and renewal. In a moment when so many are stretched thin, this gathering offers care in both directions: space to be nourished, and an opportunity to sustain Windcall’s 36-year legacy of supporting those who carry our movements forward. Our collective goal is to raise $50,000 in support of this vital work.

Deesha is a South Asian diasporic queer, nonbinary, femme-ish, artist and healing practitioner. They bring depthful embodied capacity to be with others as they face the longings and wounds of their hearts and minds. Deesha provides therapy and coaching that is: Somatic (rooting within the body-mind), Relational (emphasizes “being with”), Politicized (brings power analysis), Posthuman (de-emphasizes human hierarchy), and Experiential (facilitates direct experience in session). Deesha most often works with deeply feeling queer and trans people of color– who are often agitators, healers, and creatives. They begin with a deep respect for clients’ “survival shape,” and invite explorations of transforming longing, grief, and rage into connection and action. Deesha enjoys spending time with loved ones, nerding out about all of the above, drawing, and lifting heavy weights.

Where is our attention in this moment? Moving through our world these days, our lives are full of opportunities and challenges. Individually and collectively, we meet each moment with varied levels of awareness. This practice session allows us to explore the relationship between awareness and impact. Should we limit our exposure to the news? How is social media affecting our ability to regulate our emotions? Together, we’ll explore the ways we are impacted and inundated by information. Along with this we’ll practice mindful awareness using practices of the Dharma.
